Always to the point
No Niceties’

Section from ‘As soon as the flat is in sight’

A lot can happen in fifteen minutes uses collage, mark making and diagrams to imagine a new relationship between the artists’ words and colour. It marks UnstapledPress’ first experimentation with the colour palette of risograph.

For the book A lot can happen in fifteen minutes, Helen Shaddock continues to explore her playful investigation of ‘stuff’ and the complex struggle to achieve a level of equilibrium and balance in present-day society, through writing.

The 11 texts are rooted in the contemporary experience of the emotional as well as the physical. Each one embraces what is a vital quality for the artist: the potential to contradict. Text and visuals come together to embrace co-existing themes such as repulsion and attraction, the pre-existing and the unfamiliar and the notion of play.
